Beginner's Class via Email - Free

Have you always wanted to learn needlepoint but were confused by classes and books? Janet's free email class, Right from the Beginning, offers great needlepoint instruction that will teach you this delightful form of needlework with techniques, stitches and tips to make it a joy.

Needlepoint Independent Study (NIS)

A new and exciting idea in needlepoint instruction, NIS classes are available for a number of different techniques. In each class you'll be able to work at your own pace while still having access to a teacher to answer your questions.

The lessons for each class will be emailed to you once a week.

There are several class choices, listed below. The cost is in bold & the PayPal button to register is there as well.

Techniques Kimonos - There are four kimono in this NIS series, each focusing on a different technique. This needlepoint instruction is short and to the point, delivering tons of information in a project you'll want to do that's small enough to complete. They are four lesson classes and include a glicee-printed kimono from Patt & Lee Designs. Each class is $35. Choose from:
- Textured Stitch Kimono
  Shipping Address
- Shaded Kimono (pictured above)
- Thread Exploration Kimono
- Overdyed Thread Kimono
Blackwork Accessories - Done on canvas (needlepoint) or fabric (cross stitch), this three-lesson class will introduce you to the techniques of Blackwork, including how to use Blackwork for shading. Class is $25.

Mondrian Memories - Learn how to handle different threads (7 in all), master Basketweave, and learn new decorative stitches in this charming class using a glicee-printed canvas from Sandy Grossman-Morris. The canvas is included in this four lesson class. Class cost is $42.50.
Birthday Plaid - Have you ever wanted to learn how to stitch a unique plaid in cross stitch or needlepoint. One that is personal for any individual. This NIS class will teach you everything you need to know and includes a copy of Janet's popular Birthday Plaid mini-sock with each class purchase. Class is $25.

Current Class Offerings

I'm always creating new and exciting needlepoint instruction. In addition, some of my classes are only available in the email class format. Here you can learn about what is currently being offered.

I'm also always on the lookout for great class ideas. If there is something you want to learn, let me know by contacting me. If I get an idea for a class from you, you'll receive the class free (not including the cost of materials).

I am pleased to be offering a varied slate of needlepoint classes in conjunction with The Art Needlepoint Company. There is a varied and exciting schedule of classes in stitches, techniques, and threads for all levels of stitchers. Use the contact form below to request the current schedule.

Best of all these classes are complementary with the purchase of the class kit.

Previous classes are sometimes offered as encore classes, but if one is not on the current schedule, you can still do the class as independent study. Contact Art Needlepoint to purchase the kit and let then know you would like to take the class.

In 2012 I will be offering additional classes as well as Teacher-led Group Projects. This is an exciting concept in needlepoint instruction. A large project will be done as a cyberclass, exploring one or several aspects of needlepoint. Personalized instruction will help you develop color and thread schemes as well as lessons on the project itself as we stitch together.

Special Offer for Guilds and Groups

Along with in-person needlepoint instruction, I offer a unique opportunity for guilds, shops, or other groups. You can choose to teach one of my projects as a self-led class.

It's like having me there but without the expense. The group leader gets an advance copy of the instructions and unlimited access to my email for questions and problem-solving.

One project pack needs to be purchased in advance for each person in the group. Then under the instruction of your leader, you have a great program at a lower cost.

In addition, chapters of national needlework guilds get a donation based on sales of projects.

I am also happy to work with you to create special sales or programs in support of your group's goals, please contact me for details.

Private Consultations

If your live in the East or North Bay Area (San Francisco), Solano County, or in Sacramento, you can arrange for a private consultation with me in your home, at a shop, or in my Mare Island Studio.

The minimum length for a consultation is one hour and if the session is in your home or at a shop, a mileage fee may be charged.
