Needlepoint Alphabet and Lettering

Using a needlepoint alphabet to add a name, word, or phrase to your stitching is a charming way to make any needlepoint personal.

For many people, including me, letters and typefaces are also wonderful sources of design ideas.

Small Alphabet Charts

I find it frustrating that I can never find good, small alphabets to use in my stitching. Interesting upper case letters? No problem. Lower case alphabets which are large and great for names and single words? Got them. A small (9 stitches or smaller) upper case alphabet? I have several from which to choose.

But a small lower case alphabet which is going to make a saying look distinctive? Nope, couldn't find it.

So I've designed my own.

The first one,

High Five, is five stitches high for the smaller letters and seven for the larger. It's a bit modern with some little curls.

The second, Pascal, is a fancier and slightly larger alphabet. It's more like the kind of lettering you find in calligraphy.

I've designed both to be very readable, even on 19 mesh.

Bungalow, above, has upper case. I designed it to work well with Arts & Crafts designs and as a needlepoint alphabet for samplers to work in Bungalows.

I'm working on some other projects to create some more alphabets for your use.
