Bargello Needlepoint

I find Bargello needlepoint endlessly fascinating. In fact, it’s my favorite needlepoint technique. It has so many advantages:- It’s easy to stitch (only one stitch required).
- It’s easy to learn.
- It’s inexpensive since you start with a blank canvas and can use any thread.
- You carry everything you need to know on your canvas.
Bargello can be as small as a Christmas ornament or a large as upholstery covering a wing chair. It can cover purses (like the one pictured above) to create practical items, or it can be completely whimsical. No matter what colors or thread you like, Bargello can be the answer for your needlepoint. You can make a piece in a retro 60’s color scheme or in something which would fit into a historical building. Once you learn Bargello, it’s easy to find new patterns, make your own patterns, and stitch lots of great needlepoint for yourself and others. In this section of All about Needlepoint, we’ll cover Bargello, you’ll learn how to
